great level! this is some really effective use of wonder's countdown lifts. it's almost surprising because i never found them too threatening in the original game, but here they're really anxiety inducing. i love how the spikes essentially turn them into platforms with a time limit you can expedite if you're not careful. the bubbles complicate things further. everything complements each other really well. i had a lot of fun
the gameplay's great enough as it is, but the aesthetics push this level even further. for starters, i really like the theme. poisonous, rocky environments are nothing new to the series but the way this level does it really stands out. making it an outdoor fjord engulfed in a toxic fog rather than just making it a poisonous cave is really inspired for one. additionally the main tileset and the mushrooms are just really nice to look at, and the colors really pop. the shade of purple that dominates the level is really striking, and the warm and cool colors used in the rest of the level complement it nicely. but for whatever reason the thing that sticks out to me the most is the background. i know it's an edit of the SMB3 cave background, but the endless field of stalagmites (or whatever you call formations like them that appear outside of a cave) is just so ominous. it gives the level a lot of character, it's like nature itself is telling you to turn back
overall i really liked this level. great design, great aesthetics, and the antonblast song fits like a glove
